Thurs., Oct. 11: Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument
We drove up to
Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument north of Albuquerque for our first
hike - about a 4 mile round trip hike with a 600 foot elevation gain. In fact, the ridge we climbed
can be seen in one of the photos below (I believe it is the second ridge seen on the view from the
valley floor, although the elevation was similar to the ridge in the foreground.) The hike went
through a slot canyon or two with a gradual elevation increase, then began a steeper rise to the
ridge.
