July 18, 2011 - Custer State Park

Monday, July 18 began in Rapid City. Visited various places in Custer State Park. Then back to Rapid City.
Weather: Lows: Rapid City: 78; Mount Rushmore: 78 Highs: Rapid City: 99; Mount Rushmore: 94; Wind Cave National Park: 96; Custer: 91 Hikes/Walks: 2.4 miles Sylvan Lake: 1.4 miles plus various other small hikes

We drove through the east part of Custer State Park traveling to the northwestern portion of the park concentrating on the "Needles" area and Sylvan Lake area in the morning

After a late lunch in Custer, we visited Stockade lake in the west central part of the park, then took two trips on Wildlife Loop Road.

Back to Rapid City, we had dinner at a restaurant that had been an old Rapid City fire station.
